Caribbean Wines & Spirits Celebrates 1 Year Anniversary!

Caribbean Wines & Spirits (CWS) will celebrate its one-year anniversary on Dec 1 of this year. CWS officially launched in late 2020, with a diverse range of wine, spirit and beer options, from around the world. In addition to offering the House of Angostura line of premium rums from Trinidad and Tobago, Landshark Beer, international wines from Kobrand and Winesellers, and non-alcoholic Vita Coco coconut water and Angostura Lemon Lime Bitters, the company has also launched a monthly “Tour de Vino” wine subscription box and a nationally syndicated television show called “The Sip”.

“This past year has been an exciting one, with lots of new products, events, and promotions, and we are just getting started.” noted Christopher Duncombe, CWS Wine & Spirits Manager. “Since we launched in December of last year, we have been able to curate a pretty extensive portfolio of unique wines, Angostura premium rums, vodkas, and other spirits that represent a taste of every continent and major wine region, around the globe. In just one year, we launched our monthly “Tour de Vino” wine subscription box and digital wine tastings, The Sip television show, the Mixin’ with Marv video series, and have been able to expand our reach to over 50 stores around New Providence, as well as on a number of restaurant menus.”

The CWS team has been exceptionally busy hosting socially distanced events and partnering with groups around New Providence, and they plan to continue growing and expanding to soon be able to serve the entire Bahamas. The company has started their first steps in a country-wide expansion with the launch of the nationally syndicated television show, called The Sip, in October of this year.

The Sip is the ultimate show for those who love wine, a good cocktail and delicious food, and is hosted by Gabriella Suighi and Nicholas “Nick” Mitchell. Each episode features a “Spill It” educational segment and a wine pairing cooking demo that highlights the diverse CWS product range. The Sip airs every third Thursday of the month on ILTV, and December’s episode will include guest chef Fredrick Rahming and will celebrate Caribbean Wines & Spirits’ first birthday. Chef Rahming’s episode will highlight holiday entertaining and will air on December 16 at 8:30pm. A special New Year’s episode of The Sip will also air on December 30, and will feature Chef Alexandra Mailis-Lynch who will whip up some exceptional dishes that will be perfect to ring in the start of 2022.

Karla Wells-Lisgaris, Brand Manager for Caribbean Wines & Spirits and its parent company, the Caribbean Bottling Company (Bahamas) Ltd. noted, “CWS was and is something new and exciting for us. Launching in the middle of a pandemic presented a number of unique challenges, but our team thought of ways that we could safely interact with the wines and spirits community, while also bringing something new and exciting to Bahamian wine and rum aficionados.”

Wells-Lisgaris added that CWS is also looking for even more unique ways to connect with their fellow Bahamians, around the entire country. “We have truly enjoyed projects like The Sip, Tour de Vino, and Mixin’ With Marv, that allow us to think outside the box, and interact with others remotely. But, in the very near future, we hope to take part in cultural and social events like regattas and Junkanoo. However, until that time, we will continue to engage with wine and spirits lovers digitally, in smaller intimate gatherings, and fun contests via our social media pages.”

CWS will host a series of contests on their social media pages to celebrate the company’s one year anniversary, starting on December 1. And, the complete Caribbean Wines & Spirits portfolio can be purchased at the Caribbean Bottling Company’s head office on Sir Milo Butler Highway.
